Meet Cosmetic Dentist John A. Hughes, DDS
In 1968 John Hughes proudly, and expectantly, opened his first office. Since then his dedication to the field of dentistry has never wavered. His first concern has always been the first line of defense, the maintenance of the family's dental health. However, there are other needs. As time has passed the methods of treating and correcting have changed and improved.
Dr. Hughes has continued to seek the best training and education on these methods and treatments. His quest began in 1962 at his graduation from Baylor University, and in 1965 from Georgia State University. In 1968 the University of Tennessee Dental College bestowed upon him the well-earned title of D.D.S.
Dr. Hughes is an active member of several Dental and Professional associations and organizations. In the Northern District Dental Society he has served as Chairman of the Continuing Education Committee and on its Executive Council; as well as served as the President of the Atlanta Craniomandibular Society. He is also a Fellow in both the Academy of General Dentistry and the International College of Craniomandibular Othropedics.
Volunteer Work
Having a heart and a passion for helping people in need, Dr. John A. Hughes has donated his time and talent to many families around the world. From a mission trip to Honduras to donating his service to Christian City which helps foster children and orphans. Dr. Hughes also practices at Lake View, a dental office in Conyers Georgia for the poor, and at his own practice, Dr. Hughes, has helped people that are struggling financially to help with the costs of dental work.

I originally came to see Dr. Hughes for a BriteSmile, which is bleaching your teeth in one hour. I was so impressed with his office and his wonderful staff that I chose to start coming to Dr. Hughes for my dental needs. Dr. Hughes gave me several options for treatment of my dental needs. I chose to have some implants where I was missing teeth. Since I had my dental work done I'm able to eat much better. I'm so glad I finally had this done. Smiles are almost automatic now.

Some people don't realize importance of taking care of your teeth until it's too late. Yes, I have dentures. I really thought that all dentures looked the same, nothing really natural. I was so amazed when Dr. Hughes explained that dentures don't have to look like dentures. They can look like real teeth. My wife loves to see me smile. They fit great and look wonderful. I wish I had come to Dr. Hughes sooner. Oh, by the way, the staff is out of this world. Dr. Hughes and staff make you feel like family. Their goal is the very best for each individual patient.

I came to Dr Hughes because of the deterioration. I knew I had no other problems. But, he pointed that I had a big problem with TMJ. I disagreed vigorously. He stuck to his guns and proved it to me and showed how it was negatively affecting me. Am I ever glad i listened to him and addressed the problem. Now, not only do my teeth look really good, but I have found what a difference a correctly aligned jaw makes. I Feel GOOD!

But to do so with a doctor with less charisma and patience would have been even more of a burden. Your promptness and courtesy were both calming and comforting. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Hughes and staff, for the wonderful care that I have received. I have been through a lot since 2005, after having a run in with another player out in the field while playing baseball. I had to undergo so many surgeries to repair broken bones in my face. After I healed from surgery, then I had to address my dental needs after the accident I had broken several teeth. My trainer from New York (which at that time, I played for the New York Mets) made me an appointment for a dentist in Atlanta, but I had an emergency on a Friday and they could not see me. My trainer started making phone calls to see who could help me that Friday. He spoke to Dr. Hughes receptionist and she was so kind to work it out for me to see the doctor. After coming in to the office and meeting everyone I told my agent to cancel the appointment with the other doctor.
It took a total of 3 months before we were finished with my mouth. I'm so pleased with my smile. When I played in Atlanta one summer it was exciting to see Dr. Hughes and Staff out in the stands in center field where I played. They came to support me.
Since 2005, I have traded teams a couple of times and it made it hard for me to get back in to see Dr. Hughes on a regular basis. Since then I have chipped a couple of my crowns playing ball. I waited until I could get back to see Dr. Hughes before having them fixed. Because he is the best!
